2 Days in Paris premiered at the Berlin Int. Film Festival in 2007 and we think there is no reason why 2 Days in New York won't be presented there as well. Technically out of the way is her 2011 film Skylab, which was shown at San Sebastián, so my thinking is this shot in the U.S sequel without a North American distributor might want to logically make a first pitstop in Park City.
We've got some stills that were readied in time for Berlin's EFM for the much anticipated Julie Delpy directed sequel, 2 Days in New York (we put it high up on our must see list for 2011). In the pics below, you have Delpy acting opposite Dylan Baker and Chris Rock. The big question is: which film festival will the film preem at?
Neurotic characters, cataclysmic situations from a tender point of view is to be expected in this second volume which gos musical chairs on us heading to another mecca. Julie Delpy’s 2011 will first begin with the release of Skylab - a family comedy saga set over two days with flashbacks and then we get this film which confirms Chris Rock's love for the French film. We generally liked volume one, and we have a soft-spot for any sequel that this actress is involved in (Three Colors, Before Sunset) and we like the tragi-relationship elements she likes to explore and the dialogue is normally her strong suit.
Like all great French actresses, Julie Delpy’s performances burn through the screen into the hearts of cinemaphiles everywhere. It’s not just her blonde locks or her milky skin that attracts viewers, but her ability to fine-tune a performance to the most miniscule nuance.
Chris Rock, who already has a penchant for Euro cinema (he adapted the Rohmer film which gave us I Think I Love My Wife) will get to ask his director and co-lead Julie Delpy about working with the likes of Leos Carax, Schlöndorff and Krzysztof Kieslowski. Rock has been cast to play the American boyfriend role in the sequel to Delpy's 2 Days in Paris.
