A regular at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, Eric holds a BFA in film studies from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013, he served on the narrative competition jury at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson’s "This Teacher" (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society), FIPRESCI and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).

I think there are only three film festivals on the circuit where filmmakers and producers are really conscious on how a production start date my ultimately affect their film festival status. There are the heavyweights of Cannes and Venice, and then there is Sundance. For the better part of the last 15 years, we are talking about the Reservoir Dogs era, the festival has jumped started thousands of careers and perhaps the best sign of adulation is the creation of competing festivals in SXSW and Tribeca. In John Cooper's first year as head honcho, we'll get to see a new sidebar going by the name of "NEXT". Whether this is just a more organized, fresh coat of paint to distinguish films of the festival that don't receive the major buzz (for reasons x, y and z) or a new view a newly shaped mandate, the festival offers "independent" films that provide the star quotient and stick to their roots.
