TIFF: Top 10 New Faces & Voices: #8. Julie Sokolowski

Not a supporting character but the principle lead in Bruno Dumont's film which employs solely non-actors this time out, while her co-star had a lot of trouble keeping a straight face and made sure he looked away from not only the camera but the film 's lead actress, the results of Julie Sokolowski's professional debut should land her further roles.

TIFF: Top 10 New Faces & Voices: #9. Sari Lennick

I'd be surprised if Sari Lennick gets recognized in public - lets just say she looks nothing like the princess wife she portrays in the Coen bros.' A Serious Man. One part of the solid cast of supporting actors (look for this film to receive ensemble awards), this is Lennick's screen debut - she plays the matriarch of the Gopnik family who feels she wants more than an amicable break-up, but more than a 50 percent stake - in essence she is one of the main factors for her husband's meltdown.

TIFF: Top 10 New Faces & Voices: #10. Dylan Riley Snyder

Since I'm an avid fan of the top ten list format, I thought I'd go at this again. Cannes gave us two break-thru perfs in acting from A Prophet's Tahar Rahim and Fish Tank's Katie Jarvis (both were mentioned once again in IndieWIRE's TIFF poll), I featured the both of them in this apres Cannes' piece.

Canada’s Pick: Dolan’s I Killed My Mother is Foreign Language Oscar Submission

Beating out some stiff competition such as Denis Villenueve's Polytechnique, Xavier Dolan’s I Killed My Mother (J’ai Tue Ma Mere) is Canada’s pick for the best foreign language film.
