While we can probably cross off the likes of Dirt Music, American Pastoral, Mary Queen of Scots, it now appears that Noyce will follow up Salt with a thriller working from yet again a novel and with Before the Devil Knows You're Dead's Kelly Masterson who has been hired to write the screenplay.

As we speak, Bruce Robinson's The Rum Diary must be in the midst of post-production, and now comes word that another seminal work from the earlier portions of Hunter S. Thompson's life might make its way to the big screen adaptation. In Thompson' timeline, Hell's Angels actually follows chronologically after he wrote the The Rum Diary (the novel would actually only be published in 98').

I wasn't completely sold on Heitor Dhalia's Adrift (À Deriva), I thought that the Un Certain Regard selected film had its merits. It boasts a well crafted story that sends viewer on a road initially frequently travelled but then surprisingly lands well on its feet. On the other hand I didn't care for some of the theatrics – especially an allusion to the nightmare scenario of having a gun involved. Laura Neiva, the young lead actress as I mentioned here might have a bright future ahead while the cinematography from Ricardo Della Rosa (Andrucha Waddington's The House of Sand) might be the film's strong suit.

Easily among my top my films of the 2009, I'm glad to see that the surreal, whimsical, weird and highly imaginative qualities of the Sophie Barthes' Cold Souls [August 7th - Samuel Goldwyn Films] are somehow retained/reflected in the film's poster one sheet.
