Benjamin Button released Criterion Collection Style
David Fincher’s THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON will be released on May 5th as a two-disc DVD and two-disc Blu-ray stacked with three hours of special features, behind the scenes stuff and a commentary track from Fincher and a visit with composer Alexandre Desplat coming in at a cool forty bucks.
Romania’s Porumboiu and Mungiu Prepping for Cannes
Porumboiu's latest entitled Intermediate features some familiar Romanian actors (that is if you've seen the strong of recent films from this country) and the project that is written and produced by Mungiu includes a bunch of unheard of filmmakers in Ioana Uricaru, Hanno Hofer, Razvan Marculescu and Constantin Popescu who each directed one episode.
What Goes ‘Up’ Must Come Down to Cannes
It won't be the auteur filmmakers such as the Wong Kar Wais or the Pedro Almodovars that will ceremoniously open the next edition of the Cannes Film Festival but rather, an animated, 3D film from the Pixar folks. Pete Docter's Up will screen for world critics a full two weeks before its theatrical release and as long as you keep away puffy mascots from the steps of the red carpet, I'm fine with that decision.
