Ondi Timoner, whose Sundance winner We Live in Public has mysteriously not been picked up yet, will be heading in them same biopic territory that Steven Shainberg went with Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus. For the record, Picturehouse Films screwed up the release of that picture, and I imagine Timoner will go a more conventional route to tell the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe's story.

This Spring, the company plans to bring some fresh produce (in terms of socially relevant documentary fair) to market. Cannes Shower Eastwood with Palme d’Or Love
Dirty Harry's day was made yesterday. It's a different kind of Palme d'Or that was awarded today to the legend actor/director who should be prepping his Nelson Mandela project for lensing sometime this year. The Palme normally awarded to the best film at the annual Cannes film festival, is also attributed on the very rare occasion and out-of-season to the body of work of a filmmaker. Berman was the last director to merit this special prize.
Magnet Has Their Hands Full with Refn’s ‘Bronson’
One of the titles that stylistically rocked the house at Sundance, Bronson by Danish helmler Nicolas Winding Refn, works has a biopic despite the fact that there is very little biographical elements to push the narrative forward. Tom Hardy, plays the psychopath prisoner and delivers one of those eye-brow lifting performances - I mentioned how impressed I was by the relatively new actor transformation with my post Sundance thoughts.

If you were watching the red carpet arrivals before 8:30 EST this past Sunday night, then his name was one those being tossed around. I'm not talking about the Pitts, Rourkes and co.; but instead Valentino. After playing before crowds at Venice International Film Festival and TIFF, Matt Tyrnauer's documentary on the fashion power house receives a March release at the Film Forum starting on the 18th. I don't care about fashion, but the docu form could make me interested in just about anything. We received the poster one sheet for Valentino: The Last Emperor below.
