If you were watching the red carpet arrivals before 8:30 EST this past Sunday night, then his name was one those being tossed around. I'm not talking about the Pitts, Rourkes and co.; but instead Valentino. After playing before crowds at Venice International Film Festival and TIFF, Matt Tyrnauer's documentary on the fashion power house receives a March release at the Film Forum starting on the 18th. I don't care about fashion, but the docu form could make me interested in just about anything. We received the poster one sheet for Valentino: The Last Emperor below.

Visual and digital effects artist Benoît Philippon (The Fall, Transporter 3) will be moving behind the camera for his first feature length film - a France/Canadian co-production which also has Christine Vachon's indie prod co. Killer Films as a third partner.
The DIY route for Coppola’s Tetro
About a week ago, I saw June release listing for Francis Ford Coppola's next film and what this listing confirmed was that a.) a Cannes Film Festival debut appears likely, and b.) Coppola appears to be choosing the DIY route?! I think Coppola going the DIY route in terms of domestic distribution might have to do with the lessons learned with his last feature -- a dismal perf at the box office with Youth Without Youth
A Perfect Match in Fox Searchlight and Cody
Variety confirms some one week old news, Fox Searchlight has found an "it girl" in Diablo Cody and with an Oscar win are willing to let her write, produce and perhaps one day direct for them. Searchlight has acquired rights to the upcoming novel "Breathers: A Zombie's Lament" by S.G. Browne with Cody on board to produce. This belongs to Hollywood's latest trend: mixing romance, youth culture with elements we normally associate with the horror genre: vampires and such.
Bezucha on His ‘Way’ Up with Faxon/Rash Screenplay
The good news for the future of Nax Faxon and Jim Rash's screenplay is that Shawn Levy has vacated the project (at least the director's chair) in favor for another installment of Night at the Museum. I guess the better news is, Mandate Pictures have now set Tom Bezucha (The Family Stone) to direct one of the top vote-getter scripts from the 2007 Most Liked list of un-produced screenplays.
