Gaghan keeps McG’s career ‘Running’
I never thought I'd be interested in a second consecutive serving of McG. With a minor curiosity for new Terminator film, I'm thinking that McG's next might be the first film of his that I'll peg as a must see because of the scribe that Warner Bros. has just landed for what they are considering as a potential trilogy in the vein of the Bourne franchise. Syriana and Traffic screenwriter Stephen Gaghan has been hired to start off Dead Spy Running on the right foot.
Sidney Kimmel Seek Out ‘Old Timers’
Titled Old Timers, this follows two sixtysomething cons who have one final night to do everything they've wanted and reunite their gang before one of them meets his demise. Hope this turns out like the botched plans in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead without the Danny Ocean elements.
Werc Werk Works ‘Howl’ for Experimental Ginsberg Biopic
Werc Werk Works are backing some “out there” filmmakers in Todd Solondz (Forgiveness) and Bela Tarr's rumoured last feature film (The Turin Horse), and now they are backing an “out there” project in Rob Esptein (The Times of Harvey Milk) and Jeffrey Friedman’s Howl.
Lee to Rescue ‘Pi’
Lee will need to reacquaint himself with green screen technologies and computer generated stuff if he decides to actually take on a project which at one time or another had people like Shyamalan, Cuaron and Jeunet attached to direct. Variety reports that the helmer would supervise a new script for Life of Pi by a scribe to be hired shortly.
Limits of Control is Primed for Cannes
The series shows off the international cast which features friends of the family (Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton from Broken Flowers, and some fantastic looking shots of Isaach De Bankolé from Ghost Dog) but also shows off the international flavors in under-appreciated Hiam Abbass, Spain's other great actor after Javier Bardem in Luis Tosar and (pictured above) the American actress with a foreign name in Paz de la Huerta -- who will be making a name for herself with this film and Gasper Noe's controversial Enter the Void.
