The National Board of Review announced some good news for fans of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire and great news for fans of David Fincher. Slumdog Millionnaire is officially tapped as a lead contender for an Oscar bid and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button won't go unnoticed as some people have speculated.
2009 Sundance Film Selections: U.S. Dramatic Competition
As expected the debuts from Sophie Barthes, John Hindman and Cruz Angeles will be the make up of 16 film selection (read my predictions here). I'm already familiar with at least half of the projects as with John Krasinski’s debut and Adam Salky’s feature length film project but of course, the rest were completely off my radar.
2009 Sundance Film Selections: U.S. Documentary Competition
Take a look at the top documentary films of 2008 and the commonality you'll find between them is that they had their starts at the festival in the mountains of Utah. One thing we can expect are for many of these docs to have a long, prosperous life in 2009 with a good portion of these having been supported and workshopped in the docu labs at Sundance. I'm hoping to at least catch one half of the sixteen offered.

Germany's Oliver Hirschbiegel and Denmark’s own Lone Scherfig and Nicolas Winding Refn are among those representing their latest works in the World Dramatic Competition. The selection committee had the crazy task of bringing down the total number 1,012 submissions down to 16.
