Emily Blunt Books Seat On Black List Favorite ‘Passengers’?

Could Emily Blunt be the new "go-to" girl for futuristic sci-fi films? With Universal currently getting ready to push her presence in The Adjustment Bureau and fresh from her gig on Looper, it appears Blunt might be in talks to star opposite Keanu Reeves in Passengers -- the Universal project is slated to be directed by Gabriele Muccino.

Film in Pictures: Nick Cassavetes’ Yellow

Fresh from the EFM, we have a couple of stills and a lengthy, wacky first synopsis for Yellow - it sounds so promising that I kind of regret where I placed the project in our Most Anticipated list -- as Nick Cassavetes appears to have confected something that truly goes against the grain of his previous film items. Pictured below in the bathing cap we find Cassavetes' wife -- actress and screenwriter (this is her first writing cred) Heather Wahlquist, and below that we have Sienna Miller who takes on the starring role of Xanne. Ben Foster who was kick ass in Cassavetes' Alpha Dog also toplines.

Melvil Poupaud Becomes a Woman for Xavier Dolan’s ‘Laurence Anyways’

Melvil Poupaud has replaced Louis Garrel in the cross-dresser titular lead role for French Canadian wunderkind Xavier Dolan's third feature film. Poupaud who was most recently seen in Gilles Marchand's Cannes bomb L'autre monde, joins his Les Sentiments co-star Nathalie Baye as part of constituency of French from France joining the France-Quebec production. Winter filming on Laurence Anyways takes place in Montreal next week up until the 12th of April...

Cholodenko to Practice ‘Abstinence’

Cholodenko would move from the spoof-friendly story of a sperm donor mixing it up with lesbian moms to the taboo turf of religion and sex with the book adaptation of Tom Perrotta's delicious satire The Abstinence Teacher. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris were formerly attached to direct and Steve Carell and Sandra Bullock were at some point on board to topline. Project is currently set up Warner Brothers.

Music Box Finds ‘Mysteries of Lisbon’ in Berlin

You can't say that Music Box Films are up for the challenge. After releasing parts I & II of Mesrine parts, the foreign film distributor based in Chicago are going to block cinemas for 4 1/2 hours with their purchase out of Berlin in Raoul Ruiz's period drama Mysteries of Lisbon, -- they'll release that version in September and will put out the six-hour miniseries on DVD sometime after that.
