Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Walter Salles’ On the Road

The project has been kicking around for almost as long as I've lived. If there is one film that deserves to be on this list its' this one. You've got classic cult book from legend writer + great young cast + Central Station and The Motorcycle Diaries filmmaker + a making of story that lasted 30 years + Francis Ford Coppola keeping the dream project alive + Americana + the secret ingredient: cinematographer Eric Gauthier who has worked with Resnais, Arnaud Desplechin and Olivier Assayas.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Miranda July’s The Future

Her breakout debut film touched all the rights cords -- July is a great storyteller and visual artist and we've been waiting a long time since her Cannes-winning debut. I already like the storyline.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method

As a filmmaker I'm sure he's borrowed from both Freud and Jung, so if I was a betting man, I'd say that we won't be receiving your mainstream biopic here. Re-teaming with Viggo Mortensen (for a third time) Vincent Cassel (for a second time) and the "IT" actor of the moment in Michael Fassbender, I'm sure we can count on three actors to belt out some robust perfs.

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud’s Chicken with Plums

It won't be the first time that comics and politics merge well together, but unlike their breakout film with plenty of heart in Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud are working from their comicbook template and transferring this into a live-action feature. Should pan out to be arthouse worthy especially with the Euro-cast toplined by Mathieu Amalric. Go Green!

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2011: Tony Kaye’s Detachment

It'd be great if this would be a double Tony Kaye film type of year. But ahead of the troubled Black Water Transit, we would much rather prefer to see this: a high school drama from the point of view of the teachers and principles. The cast is fine, and from what we heard the screenplay is actually pretty solid. I'm hoping that this is Kaye's big comeback moment.
