Crypto Downfall: Cutter Hodierne Kidnaps Raúl Castillo & Melonie Diaz for “Cold Wallet”

Date:

It’ll have been a long decade between debut and sophomore film projects but Fishing Without Nets filmmaker Cutter Hodierne got back into the director’s chair with the Vanishing Angle producer Benjamin Wiessner for Cold Wallet. Deadline reports that the quartet of Raúl Castillo, Tony Cavalero, Melonie Diaz and Josh Brener all signed onto the project. Production just wrapped – so we’re thinking this is a definite Sundance contender for next January.

The project was written by John Hibey (who was also on team Fishing Without Nets) the crypto-heist thriller is inspired by real stories related to when the FTX scandal broke. It follows a rag-tag team of Redditors who lose everything in a crypto Ponzi scheme and plot to kidnap the ‘financial influencer’ who screwed them over. Hibey and Hodierne are also producing. Hodierne’s won Best Director at Sundance in 2014. We had the chance to sit down with him back in Park City.
