Jail & Jell-O Molds? Janicza Bravo to Direct Cate Blanchett in Martha Stewart Biopic ‘Good Thing’

Date:

If American indie filmmaker Janicza Bravo gets to infuse her deadpan humor and brand of absurdity to what could be a dream biopic portrait where Cate Blanchett gets to go into Martha Stewart’s business hive mind putting the spotlight on a one-woman lifestyle-media ecosystem where content, products, and personality all feed each other. Good Thing would be the latest performance where Blanchett plays folks in the public domain a la Katharine Hepburn, Bob Dylan and Lucille Ball. Variety reports that the project is being written by Ricky Tollman, and Dirty Films’ Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini will produce along with and Randy Manis and Neil Dodson. Francini was one of the producers on Mrs. America – Bravo directed some of those episodes there. Bravo first caught our attention with her Sundance shorts, which then led to her moving into features with 2017’s Lemon and 2020’s Zola.
