Playlist

Comic book author Nine Antico scores two noted actresses for her directorial debut, Playlist, produced by Atelier de Production’s Thomas and Mathieu Verhaeghe. Sara Forestier (who starred in this year’s Oh, Mercy! for Arnaud Desplechin) and Laetitia Dosch (Our Struggles, 2018; and also soon to be seen in Danielle Arbid’s Passion Simple) are joined by Andranic Manet (A Paris Education, 2018) in the cast. Julie Conte makes her feature debut as DP.

Gist: Co-written with Marc Syrigas (who co-writes with Celine Sciamma), Sophie (Forestier) lands a specialized job at a publishing house for comic books, even though she’s technically unqualified. The job comes as a relief and allows her to escape waitressing, unlike her friend Julia (Dosch), an aspiring actress. But a break-up with her boyfriend, whose child she is carrying, compromises her newfound occupational relief.

Release Date/Prediction: Antico finished her shoot in August 2019, and we anticipate a potential premiere in Berlin.
