Top 200 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2023: #59. Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding

Date:

Love Lies Bleeding

Among the many A24 films circling the festival circuit this year we have Rose Glass‘ sophomore feature. Her 2019 debut Saint Maud premiered at TIFF, and with Love Lies Bleeding see managed to lasso Kristen Stewart for the lead role. Katy O’Brian, Dave Franco, Ed Harris, Jena Malone and Anna Baryshnikov also star in a romantic thriller which examines a romance fueled by ego, desire and the American Dream. Production took place in June of last year, Lobo Films’ Andrea Cornwell and Escape Plan Productions’ Oliver Kassman are producing.

Gist: Co-written by Glass and Weronika Tofilska, A woman determined to be a body-building champion finds her life and attitude altered by the use of steroids.

Release Date/Prediction: A24 had a positive experience last year populating the sidebars in Cannes and we think they could attempt some of the same including this title. Directors’ Fortnight is a valid option.
