South Korean director Na Hong-jin got our attention with his exceptional debut, the visceral crime thriller The Chaser (2008). He followed that up with another acclaimed thriller in 2010 with The Yellow Sea. His latest, produced by the local-language filmmaking unit of 20th Century Fox promised to be another genre film, The Wailing (aka Gokseong). A police detective investigates a series of murders, potentially committed by some sort of unknown evil. As he delves deeper into the case, he discovers his own daughter may have something to do with the killings.

: Last year, pundits were predicting Na Hong-jin to appear at Cannes, where The Yellow Sea premiered in Un Certain Regard. The title is officially in post-production, so we can keep hope alive for his latest to appear at Cannes 2016.
