Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #136. Adam Wingard’s The Guest

Date:

The Guest

Director: Adam Wingard
Writer: Simon Barrett
Producers: Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Dan Stevens, Joel David Moore, Lance Reddick

After segments in three horror omnibus features (The ABCs of Death and two VHS movies), director Adam Wingard is back with a yummy career high which follows (released in 2013) 2011’s You’re Next. Regular collaborator Simon Barrett returned to pen the screenplay, for what sounds like another family and friends vs. interloper thriller we ended up relishing – it topped my festival slate and placed equally as well on Jordan’s list.

Gist: A family befriends a man who is not who he claims to be.

Release Date: Premieres in the Midnight section of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival followed by a SXSW showing.
