Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #21. Andrea Arnold’s Mag Crew

Date:

Mag Crew

Director: Andrea Arnold
Writer: Andrea Arnold
Producers: Parts and Labor’s Jay Van Hoy and Lars Knudsen
U.S. Distributor: Focus Features
Cast: None announced

The brilliance in her stacked mini filmography (Red Road, Fish Tank and Wuthering Heights) has afforded Andrea Arnold the opportunity to move into a new frontier and to test her comedic voice. Thanks to some unexpected peer support (Filmmaker Mag details the inaugural new initiative she received), the filmmaker will be working on U.S soil with a youth portrait that covers parts of Middle America and a soundtrack playlist to boot (Rihanna has been mentioned).

Gist: Set in middle America, this is a look at the lives of runaway kids selling magazine subscriptions around the U.S.

Release Date: We might be jumping the gun a little with this as a 2014 inclusion, especially since Arnold has got other projects on her slate, but if Arnold hits the pavement/open road pre-summer then autumn film fest programmers might want to include this title on their radar. Logically, the safer bet is for a Cannes 2015 premiere.
