It’ll be just under a decade since Cutter Hodierne premiered (he won the Directing Award in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section) his tense modern day Somali pirate film Fishing Without Nets at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. His second feature film appears to carry a VICE-like assignment vibe, as with Cold Wallet Hodierne ventures into the world of cryptocurrency but within the heist thriller genre parameters. Starring Raúl Castillo, Tony Cavalero, Melonie Diaz and Josh Brener, Cold Wallet would have gone in post sometime last March and is part of the selected projects at this year’s U.S. in Progress. The screenplay was written by John Hibey – who also worked on the short and feature versions of Fishing Without Nets. It was recently awarded the Andrews/Bernard Award, an initiative sponsored by Steven Soderbergh that provides $100,000 in completion funds.
