I went into my second viewing of Yuan Qing‘s Three Adventures of Brooke (the Venice Days selected first time feature we raved about) prior to meeting up with the filmmaker for our sit down. I was looking for small gestures, nuances or poeticism I might have missed out on yesterday’s night’s late watch. The second viewing only confirmed that when one is aware of his/her surroundings they are more un-tune with the micro details, objects of no significance take on new meaning and gestures in this thing called life. She provided some thoughtful answers (translated and to be published shortly). I would apply this logic to my every day routine here in Pingyao. Later in the day, the festival announced its winners selected by the multiple juries with Bai Xue’s The Crossing and Huo Meng’s Crossing The Border splitting the honors in Fei Mu section.
