2023 Cannes Critics’ Panel: The Zone of Interest, Fallen Leaves, La Chimera & Anatomy of a Fall Top Grid

Date:

It was hovering around the 4.0 average and would settle for a final 3.9 grade and never let go of the top spot in our 2023 edition of the Cannes Critics’ Panel. Jonathan Glazer‘s The Zone of Interest is the king of all films — a darling of the critics collecting the highest grades with not one dipping under the three out of five stars mark. His first time in Cannes and the comp might be a memorable one when it comes to the awardage tonite.

Another film running under the two-0hour mark was Finland’s Aki Kaurismäki‘s Fallen Leaves — not far behind with an average score of 3.7. Tied for third with find two female filmmakers with their fourth feature film (and possibly career bests) in Alice Rohrwacher‘s La Chimera and Justine Triet‘s Anatomie d’une chute. Both films landed 3.5 average grades. You’ll find the most complete look at the grid and here is the complete ranking by the nearest decimals:
