As we get ready for the first wave of title selections from Sundance and Berlinale to start populating the 2026 calendar, we are also shifting our attention to films moving into production for what will populate fests in 2027. French cinema auteurs we find vets Emmanuelle Bercot, Christophe Honoré, Philippe Faucon and a sophomore feature by Charlotte Le Bon getting some early coin via France’s CNC advance on receipts (Cineuropa).
Le Bon who moved behind the camera for the Directors’ Fortnight selected Falcon Lake (read review) is in casting mode as we speak for La symphonie du sens which will likely film in Quebec. With his last project Marcello Mio (read review) being showcased in competition in Cannes, the prolific Honoré is now prepping Mariage au goût d’orange which is being backed by the Les Films Pelléas folks. Actress-filmmaker Bercot will be directing L’enragé — which could be technically ready for next year as production begins in February. Based on the Sorj Chalandon novel of the same name, this is set in 1934, and tells the true story about 56 boys who escaped a juvenile penal colony on Belle-Île-en-Mer, but all were caught except one. Les Films du Worso are producing. Faucon will be moving into production on Fille de… — we don’t have a logline for this one yet. Other fiction film projects receiving coin are Joël Karekezi‘s Capitaine Mbaye, Victoria Lafaurie and Hector Albouker‘s La tempête, Yvan Georges-Dit-Soudril‘s 16 mesures, Cyrielle Raingou‘s Pour toi je reviendrai and Lucrèce Andreae‘s animated film project Bergeronnette.
