The Gist: This is a coming-of-age story about a teenager seduced by the unlimited possibilities of the dark, virtual world of online gaming.….(more)

Cast: Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet, Louise Bourgoin and Melvil Poupaud

Why is it on the list?Apart from a couple of doc samples, all commentary on how the virtual world has socially altered/modified our habits and comportment has pretty much bit the dust – L’autre monde might be a poignant game changer. Among my top 100 films of the decade, we have a pair written by Marchand (Lemming and Red Lights) and he is once again working with Dominik Moll – another talented filmmaker. With both working together, we have the certitude that this may go into some noir territory. Check out this series of behind the scenes shots featuring Poupaud.

Release Date/Status?: Having seen his directing debut (Who Killed Bambi?) make a splash in Cannes, I expect his 2nd effort to find itself in the same locale – potential for U.S purchase is highly likely.
