2011 Sundance Predictions: Brian M. Cassidy & Melanie Shatzky’s The Patron Saints

Date:

#38. The Patron Saints – Brian M. Cassidy & Melanie Shatzky

Before they spring into action on the narrative feature film project, helmers Brian M. Cassidy & Melanie Shatzky’s non-fiction stint, the Cinereach/IFP Documentary Projects in Post-Production supported The Patron Saints looks poised for a debut somewhere between Sundance and SXSW. The duo have been to Park City before with their short, and have been to the Rotterdam and TIFF film fests as well.

A disquieting and at times surreal exploration of an assisted living facility. Framed by the ruminations of Jim, the nursing home’s youngest—recently disabled—resident, the film is a revealing portrait of the changing nature of bodies and minds.
