Alternative TIFF 2010 Picks: #15. Thom Andersen’s Get Out Of The Car

There’s a part of me wishing I could have a “different” film festival experience. The cinephilia side in me would love to embrace all the offerings from the Wavelengths programs. The one item at the top of that list, would be from the artist is was often mentioned on many top 100 lists of the past decade with “Los Angeles Plays Itself”. Using montage once again, this is an update of sorts on the city of angels.

#15. Get Out of the Car (Part of Wavelengths 1)

The Gist: This is another city symphony exploring Los Angeles’ gentrification through a thoughtful montage of façades and a playful excursus through its musical history.
