Daily Recommendation: New Directors/New Films

If you are in the film mecca area of North America, you’ll want to head on over to either The Film Society of Lincoln Center (Walter Reade Theater) and The Museum of Modern Art (The Roy and Niuta Titus Theater 1) – both places are presenting the 38th edition of the New Directors/New Films 2009 festival (March 25–April 5).

IONCINEMA.com Daily Recommendation

If you are in the film mecca area of North America, you’ll want to head on over to either The Film Society of Lincoln Center (Walter Reade Theater) and The Museum of Modern Art (The Roy and Niuta Titus Theater 1) – both places are presenting the 38th edition of the New Directors/New Films 2009 festival (March 25–April 5) – the collection of works from new voices in filmmaking comes with a large contingency from the Sundance film festival. Does anyone know what the closing film will finally be?

You’ll want to take down these names/titles from the list I’d point towards So Yong Kim‘s Treeless Mountain, Sophie BarthesCold Souls and Ondi TimonerWe Live in Public as ‘sure bets’ and judging from the knowledge of our foreign correspondents I’d say that Claudia Llosa‘s The Milk of Sorrow (La teta assisted) and Ozcan Alper‘s award-winning Autumn (Sonbahar) are worth the detour (you’ll probably not get a second chance to see either of theses after the fest).
