Among today’s DVD releases we have Christine Jeff’s Sunshine Cleaning, a film that after it received a mildly warm reception at Sundance was expected to die a quick theatrical death – the pic took almost a full year to find a distribution deal. Overture Films came into the portrait and defied the odds with this quirky indie film: not only did it record some of the best box office numbers for an indie film this year, but it gathered plenty of traction from the batch of critics who didn’t go to the festival.
