Gallo to topline Coppola’s Tetro

Date:

Is this going to be the rebirth or the reburial role for the multi-occupational Vincent Gallo? Replacing the part in which I beleive Matt Dillon was original cast for, the director of Buffalo ’66 and Brown Bunny will be the centerpiece in another family saga by Francis Ford Coppola. Featured in the backdrop of Argentina, Tetro revolves
around an artistic immigrant family marred by fierce rivalries, handed down
through several generations. A young man (Ehrenreich) journeying to Buenos Aires
to find his brother, who left the family years earlier. Verdu will play the
brother’s girlfriend. Bardem would play an Argentinean literary critic named
Unknown.

The production begins March. 31th and Coppola (I’m not sure he is right on this one) is quoted in the press release I received as stating: “Despite the controversy always surrounding him, Vincent Gallo has a real presence on screen and ‘an aliveness.’. He’s intense, intelligent, and very funny. He epitomizes personal filmmaking as he has directed, written, produced, acted , edited, and composed music for his own films. I know choosing Vincent Gallo to star in my film will raise a few eyebrows, but I’m betting that seeing him in the role will open some eyes.”
