In Depth Look: Un Certain Regard’s Godard, Hong Sang-soo, Dolan, Schmitz, Fund & Loza and Vega Bros.

Among the half dozen titles we find here, we’ve got a pair of filmmakers who featured their works in last year’s Director Fortnight section and are “graduating” to the official Cannes sidebar. Un Certain Regard will also be the home of Jean-Luc Godard’s latest film and sticking with the notion of world cinema, we have films from Peru, Argentina and the latest from Oliver Schmitz, who contributed to Paris, Je T’aime. For the time being, info is sparse on Schmitz’s Life Above All, Daniel & Diego Vega’s Octubre and the Ivan Fund & Santiago Loza tandem seemed to have released Los labios nationally prior to what would be an international premiere. Film Socialisme – Jean Luc Godard & co.
A symphony in three movements. Things such as: The Mediterranean, a cruise ship. Numerous conversations, in numerous languages, between the passengers, almost all of whom are on holiday… An old man, a war criminal (German, French, American we don?t know) accompanied by his granddaughter…

Ha Ha Ha – Hong Sang-soo
Moonkyeong (Kim Sang-kyeong) decides to move to Canada and meets Joongsik (Yoo Joon-sang). The two find out that the were in a trip together and share their memories. Moonkyeong wants to be a movie director and meets a tour guide Seongok acted (Moon So-ri) who wants to live a new life in Korea.
