Jeremy Saulnier‘s Rebel Ridge had a wonky production narrative with the pandemic slamming into it and causing delays but the film had its day under the sun and became a winning project for Netflix — and now the American indie filmmaker is mounting his next project. October, an A24 horror action thriller has it’s first player onboard — Deadline reporting that Cory Michael Smith will be toplining. They are currently in casting mode for a production start date that we expect soon. The production team is comprised of Rich Peete, Eli Bush, and Niteowl Films’ Jeremy and Skei Saulnier. Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Traci Carlson, Elliott Coley and Macon Blair are exec producing. Plot details are not yet known but this is a fugitive thriller set during Halloween. This would be Saulnier’s sixth feature film in a filmography that began with 2007’s Murder Party, 2013’s Blue Ruin, 2015’s Green Room and 2018’s Hold the Dark.
