Indie Banner Sidney Kimmel finds ‘Ray’ of hope

Date:

Former October Films co-founder and United Artists topper Bingham Ray is getting back into the game – he will head Kimmel Distribution taking care of marketing duties and making sure that their 07/08 slate of Sidney Kimmel films get the same exposure as recent successes Breach and United 93 have.

The indie unit has a marvelous slate of films in post and pre-production including MGM-set Death at a Funeral, Charlie Bartlett, Lars And The Real Girl, Married Life. Focus Features has got Kasi Lemmons' Talk to Me in the fold and we can expect an end of year release by Paramount Vantage’s The Kite Runner. On tap for production they have the heavily anticipated Charlie Kaufman debut Synecdoche, New York and are working on Unthinkable.

Variety lists Ray’s past title pick-ups of Hotel Rwanda and Bowling for Columbine at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival. He also claimed break-through films in the realms of Secrets and Lies, Breaking the Waves and Dogme-fav The Celebration.
