Oscars 2010 – Writing (Adapted Screenplay): Spirit and Oscar for Geoffrey Fletcher

I was so sure that this was Up in the Air’s win, but this crazy category also included a dark horse picture in my books with first-timer Geoffrey Fletcher and his reaction at winning pretty much tells me that this was far from being in the bag.

The Noms:

“District 9” Written by Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell
“An Education” Screenplay by Nick Hornby
“In the Loop” Screenplay by Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci, Tony Roche
“Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” Screenplay by Geoffrey Fletcher
“Up in the Air” Screenplay by Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner

Who Will Win: Up in the Air
Who Should Win: Up in the Air
Who Won: Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire
Commentary: I was so sure that this was Up in the Air‘s win, but this crazy category also included a dark horse picture in my books with first-timer Geoffrey Fletcher… and his reaction at winning pretty much tells me that this was far from being in the bag. Looks like a promising career for the scribe.
