Radnor and Olsen Enroll in ‘Liberal Arts’

Best known for his role on the TV show How I Met Your Mother, Josh Radnor is perhaps going the Zach Braff route of starring in TV comedies and doing some directing gigs on the side. He’ll be teaming up with the “it” girl from Sundance in Elizabeth Olsen for his latest sophomore indie offering with Liberal Arts. Shooting would begin this spring during his hiatus.

Gist: A 35-year old (Radnor), still yearning for the life of a college student, must come to terms with his age and responsibilities. A college student (Olsen) falls for the older man after discovering their shared love for music and literature. Her immaturity gets in the way of her seeing the obvious reasons why the two can’t be together. The youngest of the Olsen sisters looks great on screen — as we noticed with her breakout performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Worth Noting: Radnor’s debut feature Happythankyoumoreplease (finally released this month after some distribution woes), which he wrote, directed and starred in, was a hit at Sundance and took home the Audience Award in the dramatic category in 2010.

Do We Care?: This will be the second film that Radnor writes/directs and stars in, and if Happythankyoumoreplease is any indication of what we can expect, we’re looking forward to seeing how this on-screen quarter-life crisis will play out. Chances are we’ll probably find out in Park City next year – both Radnor and Olsen know what it’s like to kill it at Sundance.
