The Couple Remains Intact; Cianfrance Pairing with Gosling on ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’

Date:

It took over a decade for Derek Cianfrance’s Blue Valentine to materialize and I’ve got a good feeling that it won’t be much longer until he officially starts lensing his next project. Ryan Gosling is keeping the brotherhood alive, and has boarded The Place Beyond the Pines – one of the many original projects that the filmmaker (he also scripting a TV show for HBO) has been working on. Currently in the financing stages, Cianfrance is hopeful that he can begin filming next summer — which shouldn’t be an issue once his bankable star shows off his more physical skill-set in Drive

Gist: This is about fathers & sons, motorcycles & guns, ancestry and what occurs over a longer stretch of time.

Worth Noting: During the production of Blue Valentine, Gosling morphed himself to look closer to Derek Cianfrance.

Do We Care?: Check back with the site on December 18th, when we unveil our Top 20 films of the year to see where Blue Valentine places itself.
