TIFF 2009 Day 6: Aaron Schneider’s Get Low

Date:

A guaranteed audience pleaser that works from a premise that certainly sounds alluring, Aaron Schneider’s debut film is formulaic, sticks to conventions – but for me Get Low was a dull anaesthetic. Robert Duvall plays a rusty old-timer secluded in the backwoods, personally I preferred his miniscule role in The Road to this portrayal. Bill Murray is a welcome addition to the cast, his character sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of the cast in a 1930’s south backdrop. Full review coming soon.
