Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2008: #20 The Burning Plain

Date:

Burning Plain Charlize

#20. The Burning Plain

Director/Writer:
Guillermo Arriaga (See on set photo above)
Producers: Laurie MacDonald (A Tale of Two Sisters) and Walter F. Parkes (The Trial of the Chicago 7)
Distributor: Magnolia Pictures

The Gist: This consists of thematically connected
storylines. Kim Basinger will play Gina, the mother of Charlize Theron’s
character as seen in childhood. Theron will play Sylvia, who tries to
find common ground with her parents after a turbulent childhood. The
two narratives eventually converge.

Fact: Arriaga is one of the writers onboard Dallas Buyers Club.

See It: Fans of Alejandro González Iñárritu will be curious to see Arriaga come out from “behind the shadows”.

Release Date/Status?: Currently filming, this should be Magnolia Pictures healthy attempt at the year-end awards race.
