Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Benedek Fliegauf’s Womb

Fliegauf has certainly made his mark as a filmmaker with style (see his work in the 2004 film Dealer), and now that Womb received the Krzysztof Kieslowski award and was part of the Atelier at Cannes, this may be the film that breaks out beyond the Europes.

#32. Womb

Director/Writer: Benedek Fliegauf
Producers: Gerhard Meixner, András Muhi and Roman Paul
Distributor: Rights Available.

The Gist: The futuristic drama pic tells the story of a grieving widow, played by Green, who decides to clone her late husband…(more)

Cast: Eva Green, Matt Smith and Lesley Manville.

Why is it on the list?: Fliegauf has certainly made his mark because of his visual toolbelt (see his work in the 2004 film Dealer), but critics mentioned an absence in the story-telling department – this might change for the better as Womb received the Krzysztof Kieslowski award (screenwriting) and was part of the Atelier in Cannes — this should make a household name for the filmmaker beyond the Europes.

Release Date/Status?: Cannes is a likely candidate. Genre fests like Fantasia, Austin and Sitges will want to add this to their program.
