Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2010: Doug Liman’s Fair Game

Date:

IONCINEMA.com Top 100 Films

#49. Fair Game

Director: Doug Liman
Writer(s): Jez & John Butterworth
Producers: Jez Butterworth, Akiva Goldsman, William Pohlad, Janet Zucker, Jerry Zucker and Liman
Distributor: River Road Entertainment might choose to go with Apparition?

The Gist: This is based on the lives of Valerie Plame and Ambassador Joseph Wilson, the married couple drawn into a D.C. firestorm. Plame’s status as a CIA agent was revealed by White House officials allegedly out to discredit her husband after he wrote a 2003 New York Times op-ed piece saying that the Bush administration had manipulated intelligence about weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of Iraq. ….(more)

Cast: Naomi Watts and Sean Penn.

Why is it on the list?: With Liman specializing himself as a action man, the ensemble of factors as to why I’m looking forward to the film have nothing to do with who is behind the camera. With Participant Media on board, 21 Gram duo Watts & Penn playing real folk – this has the potential of being a hard-hitting commentary on how people on the inside get rid of problems.

Release Date/Status?: A major film festival premiere followed by a wide release. Should be Oscar bait.
