Ewan McGregor has reportedly signed on to star in the first feature helming by writer/director Gerald McMorrow. McGregor, best known for his harrowing addiction with heroine (Trainspotting) and his lightsaber techniques in his role in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will lead the cast for Franklyn set to begin filming in London in early 2007.

Continuing the relationship the fostered with his last film The Constant Gardener, Fernando Meirelles' next project has been picked up by Focus Features – they will most likely serve as the distributor and will handle international sales for the film which should see a 2008 release.

Death of a President is director Gabriel Range’s speculative documentary set in December, 2008, that tells the story of the assassination of President George W. Bush on October 19, 2007. Part political thriller, part murder mystery, Range’s film documents the President’s ill-fated trip to Chicago to make a speech about economics, the violent protest that ensues outside, the shooting of the President, and the search for the assassin.
