A Family Affair on Zannou’s ‘La Puerta de No Retorno’

Date:

Last year’s big newcomer sensation Santiago A.Zannou (“El Truco Del Manco”) has already hoped onto his sophomore film. La Puerta de No Retorno is a curious sounding project – as it stars Zannou’s own father, Alphonse Zannou. The project was actually intended as a documentary, but ended up becoming a fiction film borrowing some heavy autobiographical elements that portrait the life of Zannou senior and his experiences as an immigrant and his return to Benin, the home country that he left decades ago. The film, which is shooting between Madrid, Barcelona and Benin, is a production of Shankara films and Dokia Films.
