Deschanel Does Some ‘Numbers’ Crunching, Takes on Ada Lovelace

Date:

Before Bill Gates there was Ada Lovelace. Her story will be coming to the big screen with Zooey Deschanel, an actress who has played her share of airheads positioned to take the lead. Production Weekly reports that Bruce Beresford is also onboard to direct in the Fall. Other thesps that are currently attached to Enchantress Of Numbers include Billy Crudup and Toby Jones.

Circa 19th century, Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace is known as “one of the most picturesque characters in computer history.” I imagine that scribe Shanee Edwards (who was awarded a Screenwriting grant at UCLA in 2005 for the project) will look at Lovelace’s ascension in the field, her early defiance moving towards a career that was probably populated by a single gender. I turns out she chose the direction of mathematician and scientist. As the story goes, at some point in the timeline she would meet Charles Babbage (I guess this is the role Toby Jones might take) who was an inventor among other things, and in 1843, she married Earl of Lovelace (likely to be Crudup) who I imagine acted more than a provider but was a support system as well.

Deschanel will next be seen in David Gordon Green’s popcorn-friendly comedy Your Highness.
