#38. The Debt

Director: John Madden
Writer(s): Assaf Bernstein, Jane Goldman, Ido Rosenblum and Matthew Vaughn
Producers: Eduardo Rossoff , Kris Thykier and Matthew Vaughn
Distributor: Miramax.

The Gist: A remake of Assaf Bernstein’s 2007 Israeli film “HaHov”, this follows a trio of 1960s Israeli intelligence agents who pursue a Nazi war criminal only to have him escape. More than 30 years later, their target re-emerges, forcing one of the agents to track him down and preserve their decades-old cover-up...(more)

Cast: Sam Worthington, Ciarán Hinds, Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, Marton Csokas, Jesper Christensen and Jessica Chastain

Why is it on the list?: Madden doesn’t have the best of scorecards (Killshot anyone?), but isn’t revenge more sweet after a three decade defrost period and when you have thesps Ciarán Hinds, Helen Mirren and Tom Wilkinson on board?

Release Date/Status?: Still no release date set – Disney still trying to figure out best rollout strategy for Miramax.
