Top 10 Posters of 2008: The Dark Knight

Date:

9. The Dark Knight (U.S. Teaser Poster)

Distributor: Warner Bros.
Tagline: Why So Serious?
Comments: You got to spend a little money to get a lot of bang for your buck. We can call Warner Bros summer promotions campaign for The Dark Knight at little excessive, but the best two things about the campaign is that they made a decision that wasn’t solely based on Hollywood greed – they kept The Joker psycho poster up even with the tragic passing of the actor and then they honored the actor when they defaced their own posters in what I would call a “meta” marketing strategy. You can see the length of the series via our friends over at impawards (click here) and out of all the posters the one that got me actually excited about seeing a comic-book movie was this one sheet which now serves as a reminder of the kind of work and fun that Heath Ledger had with this villain.
