Day 5: Live from Cannes: Organized Crime in an Organized Fashion in ‘Gomorrah’

Date:

Apart from the Cannes opener the consensus is: all films are finding critics to help champion their film – meaning there is not one film that has broken from the pack. Today’s early morning screening of Matteo Garrone‘s Gomorrah can be added to this pack. Garrone masterfully details the mafia world via six different point of views – offering a realistically drawn picture of what is going down there. Based on the novel by Roberto Saviano, this is a
contemporary look at the Neapolitan mob and an expose of Italy’s criminal
underbelly and I sincerely hope that U.S audiences get to see this film.
