With their unique vérité aesthetic brand, one that shuffles the deck of conventional docu-filmaking rules and techniques (our Jordan M. Smith recently called it a styled shoot where they film “seemingly everything, patiently awaiting those precious moments of poetic happenstance”), it’s been easy to champion the Ross Bros. since they first burst onto the scene with 45365 (2009) and Tchoupitoulas (2012). Invited to partake in Park City festivities last year with Western, we’re quite confident that they’ll manage to resuscitate the traditional stuffy format of the concert film. Contemporary Color was announced almost on the eve of Sundance back in January, and with the double concert having taken place in June — this is definitely in the can. Bill and Turner offered an early peak for the spirit of the project.
Gist: This follows high school A/V/ clubs, Color Guarders and their musician counterparts as they prepare for and take the stage at an unprecedented, one-night-only spectacular at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in June 2015 featuring David Byrne and a slew of other artists.

Prediction: Seeing this is more “concert” film….perhaps it’s unique blend is more fitted for Park City at Midnight.
