It's been a peculiar year for documentary films when you include such form-challenging samples as Sundance's Banksy: Exit through the Giftshop, Catfish and Rezo Films breaking out The Game of Death in Berlin. One that we've been keeping tabs on that certainly belongs to the group and has, according to Deadline.com, held a private, button-your-mouth screening, setting the stage for buy without the apparent Cannes attention. Most likely, the agency is looking to package the world rights to the untitled mock doc which basically looks at Joaquin Phoenix's transition from the acting world to a career as an aspiring rapper.
Way before Russia’s newspaper reporters started dwindling in numbers, there is the story of one Don Bolles who made enemies with people sitting in positions of power. Miramax is looking to set the director in Ben Affleck to a storyline set circa 1976, when Bolles was a reporter for the Arizona Republic looking into political corruption and the convergence of New York, Chicago and Detroit mobsters in Phoenix.
