2011 Sundance Predictions: Cary Fukunaga’s Jane Eyre
On March 11th, Focus Features releases Cary Fukunaga's Jane Eyre in theaters. Even if Sundance was home to Cary Fukunaga's breakout debut Sin Nombre, I seriously doubt whether the film the classic will take up a spot. Berlin appears to be a more likely candidate. Starring Michael Fassbender, Mia Wasikowska, Sally Hawkins, Jamie Bell, Imogen Poots and Judi Dench, this one is a slimmer than slim prediction on our part.
2011 Sundance Predictions: Ti West’s The Innkeepers
Production on Ti West's The Innkeepers has been completed mid year range. If the filmmaker is holding out, its because he possibly has Sundance (Park City at Midnight) or SXSW in mind. Distributor Dark Sky Films certainly would want a launch pad festival release for the film. This prediction is pure logic.
Indomina Releasing Add Franck Richard’s Horror Debut to ‘The Pack’
Since TIFF, Indomina Releasing are giving one reason after another to think that they'll become a strong distributor for genre films essentially bolstering the output of such films for rabid fans. Today they announced their first "Euro"-title pick-up in Franck Richard's directorial debut which is known as The Pack or by its domestic title, La meute. Expect this to be released in 2011 with all their other pick-ups.
2011 Sundance Predictions: Gavin Wiesen’s Homework
Despite their being enough the odd Sundance face or two among the cast comprised of Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser, Sam Robards, Alicia Silverstone, Blair Underwood and Rita Wilson, I'm not sure where/how writer-director Gavin Wiesen's directorial debut fits in the scheme of things. The shot in New York coming-of-age film could end up in Park City, SXSW or Tribeca. Once again, it all depends on style, tone and the overall packaging. Slim chances for Homework to debut here, unless it really feels like a band apart.
2011 Sundance Predictions: Jason Eisener’s Hobo with a Shotgun
Jason Eisener's 2008 short Treevenge, became an instant hit with the fanboys in Sundance, I wouldn't be surprised if Park City at Midnight rolls out the "red" carpet for Hobo With A Shotgun - his feature debut which is based on one of the fake trailers made for the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse project.
