58th San Sebastián Int. Film Festival: Mullan’s Neds Takes Golden Shell
Peter Mullan triumphed this past Saturday at the 58th edition of the San Sebastian Int. Film Festival when his third film, Neds won the Golden Shell for Best Picture. The film, a social commentary on education and violence in 70´s Glasgow, also won the Silver Shell for Best Actor.

The 58th edition of the San Sebastián Int. Film Festival got its start this past Saturday with a inaugural ceremony in which an absent Roman Polanski was awarded the 2010 FIPRESCI award from the international critics for The Ghost Writer. Olivia Williams, one of the actresses from the film, received the award on his behalf from the hands of the president of the international federation of cinema critics, Jan Lumholdt.

Chema de la Pena Pulls a Coup D’état on ’23-F’
Principal photography began on 23-F - the latest feature by Sud Express director Chema de la Peña. Produced by the production company Lazona (Concursante), the film will be the first cinematographic reinterpretation of the coup d´état that took place in Madrid February 23rd 1981.

The film tells the story of a disturbing revenge plan led by a plastic surgeon, and a film adaptation of the Thierry Jonquet novel “Tarantula” and stars Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Roberto Álamo and Marisa Paredes. The three month shooting will take place first in Santiago de Compostela, in the north of Spain, moving thereafter to Pazo de Oca and finishing in Madrid and the whereabouts of Toledo.
