Antonio Hernandez’s ‘Capitan Trueno’ Leaves Development Hell

Finally, after years in development hell and various failed production announcements from the company Filmax, who even released promotional teaser trailers and one sheets at last year's Cannes Film Festival, the long awaited adaptation of Spanish comic book “El Capitán Trueno” is currently confirmed to be under pre-production under the title “Capitán Trueno y El Santo Grial”.

Sitges Repped by Los Ojos de Julia, Agnosia and Film Fest Faves

A good portion of titles were unveiled for Sitges Fantastic Film Festival which will take place between the 7th of October until the 17th. The inaugural film of this year´s official ceremony and out of competition will be “Los Ojos de Julia”, the Guillermo del Toro produced film in collaboration with director Guillém Morales and actress Belén Rueda (“The Orphanage”). “Agnosia” the second film from Eugenio Mira after his debut with “The Birthday” and “14 Days with Víctor” by Román Parrado will be Spain´s representation at the competitive official section.

World Film Report Spain: Anticipated Releases in Gimenez’s Yellow and Chapero Jackson’s Verbo

Xavi Giménez, a respected director of photography (Ágora) who collaborated with the company in several occasions (Transsiberian, The Machinist) has been given directing duties for the first time with Yellow. This drama, about a single father who enrolls his problematic son in an educational center that uses extreme treatments to realign the personality of its patients, is currently finishing principal photography and will be released by the end of the year.

Newcomer Kike Maillo shoots for Spanish production company Escándalo Films, a sci-fi drama titled Eva which tells the story of Eva, a 10 year-old little girl that suffers from amnesia after her mother perishes in a terrible accident. Alex, a talented robotic engineer will try to help her cope with her trauma by investigating robots that are capable to relate with humans. Daniel Brühl (Inglorious Basterds), Alberto Ammann and Marta Etura (who both starred in the box office hit and winner of 8 Spanish Academy awards "Celda 211") and Claudia Vega star, the script counts with the collaboration of Spanish prestigious playwright Sergi Belbel.
