Tallahassee Trippin’: Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls” Set for Awards & Fest Season Spotlight

Date:

And here we have it. It’s called Drive-Away Dolls. It’s dropping on September 22nd. Telluride, Venice Film Festival and TIFF programmers have their tasers pointed. Lensing on Ethan Coen‘s comedy caper began last fall with Tallahassee in the front window visor and with Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp and Matt Damon on board. This was written by Coen and his wife Tricia Cooke.

The film follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals.

With Eileen being released at Sundance, this is yet another year where cinematographer Ari Wegner will have two films showcased at a major film festival.
